If you didn’t already know, New York hotels are some of the best public spaces to work from if you need a break from your apartment. And, most of them serve coffee and other cafe items, so you can stay focused throughout the work day. Below are a few recommendations from one digital nomad to another.
Arlo Hotel — Williamsburg
The Arlo Williamsburg is my go-to work spot and it’s not even in my borough—I voluntarily cross water to sit in the comfy booths in their beautiful—and quiet—lobby. Wifi is fast and free, outlets are easily accessible, and the coffee is delicious.
The Ludlow Hotel — Lower East Side
Plenty of hotel lobbies have great atmospheres, but The Ludlow’s is pretty unmatched. With deep couches, warm lighting, and a huge fireplace, The Ludlow lobby is the perfect place to hole up with your laptop on a chilly day when you want to get out of your apartment but still feel cozy. Coffee, wifi, and a bar makes it an ideal work-from-anywhere spot.
PUBLIC Hotel — Lower East Side
PUBLIC Hotel’s Lobby Bar is maybe the best spot if you want to be bathed in natural light while you work. Aside from the entire wall of windows, there’s a great mix of couches, tables, semi-private bench-nook situations, and more. Downstairs there’s Louis, where you can buy coffee, snacks, and more. The only catch is the (very strong and fast) wifi is not free—but it’s basically the price of a Manhattan coffee. Depending on your atmospheric preferences, definitely worth it.
Ace Hotel — Brooklyn and Flatiron
The Lobby at Ace Hotel in both Brooklyn and Flatiron are dependable options for when you want a guaranteed seat to sit down and get to work. The Lobby also has a full food, coffee, and drinks menu—super ideal for when you want to stay in one spot for the whole day to get through a heavy workload.
The Hoxton — Williamsburg
The lobby of The Hoxton in Williamsburg has a great cafe (and bar) with lots of tables and seating options. Wifi is solid but definitely keep in mind that the lobby fills up fast. Get there early for a good seat, especially if you want one near an outlet.
