There’s a little bit of everything in this list—a teahouse, a cafe, a hotel lobby bar, and a pub. An eclectic mix of work from anywhere spots on the Lower East Side for all your remote working needs or moods.
Cha &
First up on the list is a teahouse on the corner of Essex and Grand. With a light and airy open space, free wifi, and a menu of tea, coffee, and pastry options (+ flights of tea) Cha & is a beautiful spot to get some work done. This is definitely a recommendation for the tea lovers out there, but also great if you just want a break from the usual coffee shop destination.
Gather
Cozy, warm, and inviting, Gather is an ideal cafe to spend a remote day at because besides great coffee, they have a generous menu of delicious and quality breakfast and lunch options. Their wifi is free and fast, and there’s also plenty of seating throughout the space—and outlets. What else could you need?
Donnybrook
Perhaps a more unorthodox option, but this neighborhood pub opens at noon every day and stays pretty quiet until happy hour, so it turns out to be an enjoyable work from anywhere spot for the second half of your day if you want to switch it up from your apartment or usual coffee shop. They’ve got a few snacks on their menu and a handful of non-alcoholic drink options if you want to wait until 5pm to imbibe (fair enough).
PUBLIC Hotel - Lobby Bar
PUBLIC Hotel’s Lobby Bar is a great spot if you want to be bathed in natural light while you work. Aside from the entire wall of windows, there’s a great mix of couches, tables, semi-private bench-nook situations, and more. Downstairs there’s Louis, where you can buy coffee, snacks, and more. The only catch is the (very strong and fast) wifi is not free—but it’s basically the price of a Manhattan coffee. Depending on your atmospheric preferences, definitely worth it.
